listen i think the the ethereum merge is a really big story right it has been i mean when i first bought ethereum you know way back in 2015 you know they were talking about this move from proof of work to proof of stake and you know its finally here and that gives energy to the space its going to reduce the the supply of ethereum thats sold every day dramatically its going to reduce the inflation rate and so i think ethereum has a real story and you know bitcoins story is very much tied to the fed yes welcome back everybody to altcoin daily my names austin were in the middle of a big week for cryptocurrency for a few different reasons like mike novogratz just said the crypto market is very narrative driven and we got two big events this week the go early test net is merging tomorrow this is the dress rehearsal for ethereum with the actual merge happening in september as well as the new cpi numbers the u.s inflation report coming out tomorrow as well which will be a big indicator on what the fed does next in their meeting in september like always check the timestamps down below i also have an update for you on the us treasury banning tornado cache the topic of our video yesterday i have an update for you today but lets jump in starting with the market mover bitcoin and looking at the schedule of releases for the consumer price index we can see that we should be getting the data tomorrow what does this mean for you and me as bitcoin investors the dollar edged lower on tuesday with market participants in sort of a and see mode ahead of key inflation figures that could shed more light on how aggressive the federal reserve might be in its expected interest rate hike in september and what are we expecting well were hoping that inflation starts to go lower from all these past rate hikes traders are widely expecting wednesdays u.s consumer price index report to show that decades high inflationary pressures eased in july following back to back 75 75-point rate hikes by the fed in june and july aimed at combating soaring prices so the feds actions in these last several months have been very reactionary i.e delayed as they raise rates after inflation has clearly already happened were hoping those rate hikes have made some sort of a dent by now but just looking at employment data by itself which is different than cpi data on friday showed that u.s employers hired far more workers than expected last month with wages still rising at a strong clip so with employment still showing strength despite raising rates that could indicate another mammoth rate hike by the fed in september no matter what the cpi is so if you hold bitcoin tomorrow will be a big day and the minute we get this information i will make a video i will keep you updated but moving forward ethereum has a big day tomorrow as well go early test net merging tomorrow and whether this goes well or not and i believe it should but whether it does or doesnt thats what the test net is all about find the bugs do the experiments and prep for the main net happening next month now in the wider ethereum ecosystem meaning the dapps the ecosystem built on top we have news someone is trolling celebs by sending eth from tornado cache so we broke this story yesterday gave you the overview of why the us is banning this ethereum privacy tool watch this video if you havent already but just as a quick reminder on what tornado cash is and why the usa banned it the u.s treasury departments ofac office sanctioned tornado cash on monday prohibiting any u.s persons and entities from interacting or transacting with the privacy tool and that means every u.s person including anybody on u.s oil as well as american citizens abroad you are now banned so what is tornado cash tornado cash is a mixer a protocol designed to pool funds in an effort to obfuscicate the origin of any given transaction so its used for privacy and u.s officials alleged that a significant amount of the funds flowing through the mixer were tied to criminal activities such as north koreas proceeds from hacking various crypto exchanges and services so they point to the criminals but instead of going after those criminals they take away the tool in general thats like saying criminals use knives so lets just ban all knives cooking knives any knife instead of going after the individuals and ethereum co-founder vitalik pointed out he was using tornado cash for good or in his mind good just for privacy in general ethereum co-founder says he used blacklisted tornado cash in the past to donate to ukraine so this was used by many different types of people but anyway the news today is this that even though this is now blacklisted an anonymous user sent a slew of tornado cash transactions to high-profile celebrity ethereum addresses on tuesday in what appears to be a troll now implicating them in a potential regulatory mess so impacted wallets include those controlled by coinbase ceo brian armstrong tv host jimmy fallon clothing brand puma and a wallet setup for donations to ukraine also prominent crypto figures like people and more mainstream celebrities like dave chappelle are also receiving eth from this now banned protocol as discovered on twitter somebodys out dusting a bunch of wallets from tornado with 0.1 eth laughing my ass off now technically what this means is shouldnt those celebrities now be in some sort of legal trouble for interacting with the protocol thats the rules well this gag effectively points out the absurdity of such sanctions for users receiving funds from the blacklisted addresses that have no power to decline the open nature of crypto is designed to cut out intermediaries unlike the traditional financial sector which would use banks and other financial institutions to act as gatekeepers against such transactions so we will have to see how this plays out obviously those celebs probably wont get in trouble and while it isnt possible to block an incoming transfer on chain it looks like exchanges and other parties will most likely have to block the addresses individually themselves crazy stuff happening with ethereum right now and next up one more thing for the eth ecosystem some really positive news from reddit reddit rolls out community points on arbitrums new ethereum scaler with ftx support so reddit has millions and millions of daily active users and theyre going even deeper into eth arbitrum nova a new ethereum scaling solution built for games and social apps has launched to the public and social giant reddit will use nova to scale its crypto powered community points rewards program so reddit is on board also crypto exchange ftx is on board and thats two big gets considering off chain labs just opened arbitrary nova to the public on tuesday so we know what reddit is doing and ftx will enable redditors to purchase eth to pay for their on-chain community points transactions on nova so basically ftx will be that on and off ramp for all those reddit users jumping in and out of crypto and why reddit chose barbatrum instead of other scalars like polygon optimism etc reddits director of consumer and product communications said arbitrary nova is ideal for its particular use case because the tech is optimized for ultra low cost transactions with strong security guarantees and yes because this is a scalar for ethereum it does get the security guarantees of the ethereum blockchain now much faster as theyre on a layer two lets keep moving and talk about altcoins dave portnoys safe moon position is down 94 but now he claims hes also being sued by the project i think this is actually one of a few different lawsuits involving his position in safe moon but lets just focus on this one i put 40k into safe moon i havent withdrawn anyway its now worth 2.3 k and im being sued wow talk about a bad investment portnoy claimed hes being sued by safe moon possibly for trashing the project on his show but didnt elaborate much further in a separate tweet portnoy shared a screenshot of safe moons sales manager expressing displeasure with the barstool sports front man for giving the company a bad look and unfair representation basically he just got on a show and trashed it saying that he her credit you know its down so much and he regretted investing and its a poop coin he just spoke his opinion and i want to play this clip this is apparently how he got notified of this lawsuit he said this is just from yesterday are you effin kidding me i woke up today to this guy pounding on my door at 8 am for 10 minutes straight thought i was under attack nope just telling me im getting sued for shilling safe moon im the only guy to lose all his money in safe moon and then
